One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 will launch next week in Japan on Ps3 and PsVita: the “Dynasty Warriors” spin-off will bring a lot of improvements to the first game’s formula, removing some gameplay elements which didn’t work to well, like the platforming sections, while improving combat engine and stage variety.
The first game didn’t have too many playable characters: excluding the Straw Hat crew, only 4 other characters were fully playable. This time Namco Bandai and Omega Force are doing things differently with a lot of new characters being fully playable in the Another Log mode.
A new character unveiling was teased not too long ago and the official confirmation came today with the latest issue of Shonen Jump Magazine: Blackbeard will be fully playable in the game with all his unique powers. Blackbeard has eaten the Yami Yami No Mi, granting him the power of darkness: he’s able to use gravity to attract all enemies to him and unleash some powerful combos.
With Blackbeard’s reveal, the character roster should be complete, except for potential surprises once the game releases.
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 will be available in North America and Europe this Summer. The PsVita version will be exclusive to Japan.
