Final Fantasy Type 0 is considered by those who have managed to play the game as one of the best entries of the series in recent years and the best game of the Fabula Nova Crystalis sub series which included Final Fantasy XIII and all its spin-offs. The game was released late in the PSP console life and as such was never released to the West: some rumors stated that Square Enix was considering a PSN-Only release fully compatible with PsVita but as of now the game is still unreleased in the West.
In a recent interview with the game’s producer Hajime Tabata it was revealed that the team experimented with a Ps3 HD Port of the game: he states that the HD port was coming out great but as of now there are no plans for it. With Square Enix starting to port some older games to Ps3, there may be a chance that this game will be given the same treatment: Tabata also stated that during the final phases of development, the team really felt like this game should have been made for a higher end-machine, making the HD port almost a natural choice.
With Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix getting released today in Japan, Square Enix may consider releasing Final Fantasy Type 0 on home consoles depending on the sales performance of the Kingdom Hearts collection.
Square Enix stated numerous times that they didn’t give up on the game: some rumors also said that the game is already fully localized and the company is just looking for the best way to release the game to the West.
