This 3DS XL news doesn’t really come as a surprise, given how much it has been teased in the past few days. The Pikachu 3DS XL special edition will be hitting North America next week, after having been released in both Japan and Europe as a limited edition.
A few hints were given by Nintendo during this week: a new commercial for the american version of the latest Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game called Gates To Infinity showed the special edition 3DS XL for a few seconds; yesterday Nintendo itself teased a new 3DS XL announcement, pointing to the release of the Pikachu themed 3DS XL. While Nintendo has still to make the announcement, some picture have emerged this morning taken by retailers who have received the product ahead of the system’s release: apparently, the official release date has been set for March 24. Aside from the Pokemon themed design, this special 3DS XL edition doesn’t include anything different from the standard 3DS XL versions.
If the release date will be confirmed to be on March 24, the console is going to launch together with the already mentioned Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates To Infinity, definitely a good way to promote both products at the same time.
