505 Games has just announced that a follow up to last year’s Sniper Elite V2, will be heading to current and next gen systems. The publisher didn’t announce a release date for the game yet, but seeing how the Sniper Elite V2 was only released last year, the third game will most likely be a ways off. They did state that it would come some time next year, which may be a little soon for some people. I really enjoyed the second game, and I can’t wait for Sniper Elite 3.
IGN stated that the second game managed to sell more than 1.1 million copies since it’s launch back in April, and that was probably the main catalyst for the sequel. I actually didn’t think the game sold that much, 505 never really released any information on it’s sales numbers, all we had to go on was the public’s general opinion of it. The game was reviewed very well, but you can never judge a game’s sales numbers solely on it’s scores. It’ll be interesting to see what they do with the next generation of hardware as well, Sniper Elite V2 was never a graphical stunner by any means, but it did has some cool special effects. Guess we’ll have to wait for more information down the road.
