With its new console, Sony is aiming to introduce a lot of innovative features to make gaming an even better experience. Together with the social networks integration and new gamepad, something else is coming which will visually enhance a lot of games and even blu ray movie playback.
Sony added 3D support to the Ps3 later in the console’s life, through a firmware update: a few games supported 3D mode like most Sony first party titles and a few other games. However the Ps3 3D option wasn’t as good as expected: the console uses HDMI 1.3 which seriously limits 3D quality for both games and movies and hardly anyone used the option.
With the Playstation 4, Sony is truly serious in adding true 3D support: the upcoming next gen console will include a HDMI 1.4 port, offering an overall superior performance, allowing uncompressed data for both audio and video.
3D enabled games will be able to run on native 1080p resolution while blu ray movies will feature 4K Visuals, offering unprecedent quality for a home system.
With so many different features, the Playstation 4 is getting set to be a truly great console. More details on the next gen Sony console are emerging daily so stay tuned for more.
