The wait for the next Thief game has been a long one for fans of the series, but today Game Informer finally unveiled that the next Thief game will be out next year. The game will just be called Thief and is being developed by Deus Ex: Human Revolution developer Eidos Montreal. According to early reports on Thief, it will be released sometime next year for the PS4, PC, and “other next generation consoles” (meaning the next Microsoft console).
Game Informer will have a full reveal of Thief in their upcoming April issue. For now all we know about the game is Garrett will be returning as the main protagonist. As well as his motivation to steal anything and everything that will make him money. The game will be set in a “Gothic, industrial metropolis” called City, which according to the report will have its share of social tension because of the “tyrant” running the City called Baron.
Even though it has been a long time since Thief 3,Eidos Montreal has demonstrated they are the perfect studio to handle this project with the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Here is a trailer detailing the work going into Thief:
