The Gears Of War series is one of the most successful new IPs released during this generation: Epic games has managed to completely reinvent the third person shooter genre by introducing the cover mechanic which has been used by a lot of other games. Gears of War Judgement is almost ready for release and Epic games is already thinking about the future of the studio itself and of its most successful series.

Jim Brown, the lead level designer of Gears Of War: Judgement, was asked about the possibility of a new gen entry for the series and it looks like Epic Games is totally open to the idea. The prolonged success of the series means that the team is not quite done with the franchise as of now.

While they’re still at work on Judgement and on the game’s upcoming DLC, the team is already thinking about a number of ways to make the franchise move forward: Jim Brown states that the Gears Of War world is so big that they have a lot of different options in this sense.

A next gen Gears Of War game would obviously be a Xbox 720 release, since the studio is owned by Microsoft: to have some more concrete news we will probably have to wait for the console’s unveiling.
