Bethesda hit gold when Fallout 3 became a runaway hit for them, pushing further than any of their previous games had ever done. Then something even bigger happened and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released and all of a sudden a series that had always sold well, but was not a blockbuster, was a huge hit receiving a ton of international acclaim. This set the stage for the upcoming title from Bethesda, The Elder Scrolls Online. The Elder Scrolls Online is set for release later this year on Microsoft Windows as well as Mac OSX (most likely after some form of delay) and will be a MMO set in Tamriel, allowing players to explore most of the world in an open-ended manner.
For those who have been chomping at the bit to get their hands on the game and signed up for the beta, your wait is almost at an end. It looks like invites to select players who have signed up for the beta will be sent out later on this month and there will be small windows of time, called events, where players can test out the game. Read more about it here.
If you haven’t signed up yet, go ahead and do so here.
