A fan of the legendary N64 platformer, Banjo-Kazooie, asked developer Rare via Twitter if there’s any chance of a 3DS remake of the game. The response is a lot more positive than you might expect.
The Twitter user asked “This is probably an annoying question to you. Is there any possibility of a Banjo remake in 3DS? Like they did to Ocarina of Time.” Rare responded with “Anything’s possible, even if it’s not very likely”.
Of course, as the developer says, we all know this is an unlikely scenario. However, while Rare cut their ties with Nintendo many years ago and are now a second-party developer for Microsoft, there is nothing in their contract that restricts them from developing for Nintendo handhelds.
With games such as Grunty’s Revenge, Banjo Pilot and Viva Pinata DS, a Banjo-Kazooie remake is entirely possible. I think there’d be enough demand to justify it too, as there are a ton of Nintendo fans like me who still have a soft spot for Rare.
Obviously, a brand new game would be even better. Ex-Rare staff who worked on the old Banjo titles have recently collaborated for a new development team, Mingy Jongo, who are now creating an all-new platformer in the same spirit as classic Banjo.
