It has been a long time since we have heard anything from Star Wars 1313, which was announced at E3 last year and then went dark. Part of the reason for that probably lies in the restructuring that took place at LucasArts after being purchased by Disney. However, there are now rumors that the game might be in some trouble as reports have surfaced that Disney may want to take the franchise in another direction. Reports are that Disney wants the next Star Wars game to be based on the upcoming Star Wars movies instead of the game being its own thing.
However, LucasArts did confirm that Star Wars 1313 is still in development as “production continues”. Unfortunately that is the only thing that LucasArts is willing to say about the game at this point. The problem is a lot of people thought the game was going to show up at the PS4 press conference last week because it has been a well known fact that Star Wars 1313 was being designed for next generation games.
But when the game did not show up, people started to wonder if development on the game is continuing. And at this point it looks like it is, but to what extent is unknown. Hopefully we will know more at E3, but if the rumors about the change in direction since the Disney purchase are true, Star Wars 1313 might be in some major trouble.
