This morning Sony is informing players that the Playstation Network and all its services will be offline for some scheduled maintenance: during the downtime players won’t be able to log in from eu.playstation.com, use the Ps3 and Psp store and access some of the accounts functions. Obviously, new registrations won’t be available as well. Online play may be affected as well even though it could still be working depending on the game.
It’s a good thing that Sony is warning about the downtime a few days in advance: with the whole PSN hacking fiasco of a couple of years ago, which caused the service to be offline for quite a few months, requiring new security measures for the system, gamers may fear their credit card information could be at risk once again.
The post announcing the scheduled maintenance has appeared on the Official Uk Playstation Blog, stating that maintenance will start on Monday from 16:00 GMT to 3:00 GMT on Tuesday. No post has been made on the North American Blog, meaning that this downtime will only affect European players.
If you want to buy some titles on the Playstation Network European Store, you better do it before this scheduled maintenance downtime.
