There rumors of the Wii Mini launching in the UK has just been confirmed to launch in March 22.  The announcement came in the form of a press release, and it’s finally bringing the once Canadian exclusive to other regions.  The Wii Mini will come in one color, a matte black with red trim, and it actually looks really nice.  The Wii has already sold over 100 million units worldwide, so if you have never picked up a Wii, the Wii Mini would be the best way to go.  I’m sure that if you wanted a Wii, you probably have already got one by now, so I’m not sure who this system is targeted at.

The upside is that there are over 1200 disc based Wii titles to choose from, that is if you do decide pick up a Mini, you’ll have a lot of games to choose from.  The package will come with a red Wii Remote and a red Wii Nunchuk controller.  The Wii Mini doesn’t have the same online functionality as the original Wii, and it also doesn’t come with an SD card slot, or Gamecube backwards compatibility.  When the system hits store shelves, Nintendo will add a number of games to their Nintendo Selects list, which are popular games that have gotten permanent discounts.  It’s definitely a nice system to look at, I’m just not sure if it’ll actually catch on.
