The new mainline Pokemon Games called Pokemon X & Y are still quite far from release: during the presentation Nintendo made it pretty clear that these games would be doing something completely new for the franchise and not only from a graphical point of view.
As of now we haven’t heard much about the games but some rumors have surfaced on the 4CHan forums, with a lot of details on the supposed gameplay changes coming. As such, this information must be treated as unconfirmed rumors, but if they end up being true they will be really good.
Apparently the game will be a lot more story focused than before: the main characters names will be set and there’s no way to change them. The whole setup will also be different: during battle the trainers will appear on the lower screen, with the battle interface laid out as a speech bubbles. Another new battle feature will be a new key item, called the Whistle, which will have a lot of different functions, yet to be detailed.
The relationship features between trainers and pokemons will also be different: gone is the friendship level and a new bonding level will be introduced, influencing the Pokemons’ growth.
The trainer himself will have a leveling system which will influence interactions with other trainers and NPC: while checking the Pokedex, trainers will also notice how the whole system will be different, featuring a tablet like interface.
Will these rumors end up being true? Who knows: apparently Ninteno should show a new trailer next month and maybe some of these features will get officially confirmed.
