The Playstation Meeting probably showed less than what gamers expected but still we got some new details about the console and all its accompanying services. Together with some details on the new Playstation Eye and Dual Shock 4, we have been given some interesting details on how the Gaikai cloud gaming platform will work.
The details have been given out by Dave Perry, who’s currently heading the platform’s development: the Ps4 is indeed going to be an incredible platform and Gaikai need to become the most powerful gaming network in the world. There will be a lot of new, never seen before features for the platform, with a strong social network integration: Gaikai will work together with PSN, allowing gamers to know whenever a friend is playing a game, interact with them by watching, playing together or even take over the game. Facebook and Ustream integration will be strong, even allowing instant broadcasting.
As of now, the platform will allow streaming of some Ps3 game but in the long term there will be also Ps1, Ps2 and Ps3 games. Another interesting feature is that the PsVita will fully support Gaikai with the possibility to turn the console in a secondary screen for some Ps4 games, with all games supporting this possibility in the future.
