Part of why so many people dislike Zynga is that many of their games look and feel a lot like other, more popular games. It is one thing to borrow ideas from other sources in the gaming world, but some of those Zynga games really do seem to be almost direct copies of other games. EA filed a lawsuit in August of 2012 over Zynga’s Facebook game, titled “The Ville,” which reminded them and many others much like EA’s smash-hit series The Sims, specifically “The Sims Social.” Zynga then went ahead and filed a countersuit, claiming that EA’s claim had no merit and that they were being uncompetitive.
They have come to a settlement in regards to the title, but it seems kind of ridiculous seeing as though Zynga shut down The Ville because it was seeing a severe lack of players. Neither company would provide any details about the settlement to the public just yet.
