During the last investors’ call, Ubisoft has officially confirmed that a new Assassin’s Creed title will be released at the end of the current year, on platforms yet to be announced: most likely the game will come on current and next gen consoles. It’s the first time two main entries of the series get released so close to each other: before Assassin’s Creed 3 came, we were able to play more through the ztory of Ezio Auditore with two other titles, building on Assassin’s Creed 2 gameplay formula.
Judging from Ubisoft’s words, AC 3 was going to be the only title starring Connor, with Liberation being the only spin off of the game. However it looks like Connor may be coming back in the near future, as AC 3 creative director Marc-Alexis Cote said in an interview with Nowgamer: while he couldn’t speak outright about Connor’s comeback, he clearly states that there’s still a lot to talk about Connor’s life, as well as Ezio’s and Altair’s. By using the historical setting, Ubisoft has plenty of space to narrate a lot of different events, making the Assassins’ life intertwined with real history.
A tiny hint was already given with the Tyranny Of George Washington DLC: Connor gets some new powers and witnesses a “what if” scenario that Cote describes as “canon”: this could very well mean that the team could be building up some more content starring Connor starting from the story DLCs planned for Assassin’s Creed 3.
