While the Playstation Plus is indeed a great service, offering many titles for free just by paying the subscription fee, this looked to good to be true and in the end, it wasn’t true: after yesterday’s update of the North American Playstation Store a lot of titles were labeled as free for Playstation Plus subscribers, prompting a lot of people to download these supposedly free titles. Thing is, they were charged as soon as they purchased the titles.
After the chaos that ensued in the hours following the update we finally have an official word from Sony through a post on the official Playstation forums by Morgan Haro: he states that the first game erroneously labeled as free was Alien Breed and players have been charged for the purchase. He also adds that Sony is looking into the matter right now and will make sure all affected by the issue will be taken care of.
While we still have to receive word of potential refunds, a player claims he has called Sony and they said that the problem may take some time to solve, with refunds coming in 10-15 days.
For now all Playstation Plus subscribers better check if a game is indeed free for the service since a lot of titles are currently listed as free.
