The first review of Metal Gear Rising: Revengance has been published on a UK Magazine: the reviewer praised the gameplay experience but noted how the game is really short, taking only 6-9 hours to complete.

The magazine is not the only one noticing that the game could be quite short: some time ago a screenshot of the end game stats had been published on some forums and it showed how total play time was around 5 hours. With all this talk among gamers, the game’s director Atsuhi Inaba has decided to speak up about the game’s total length.

He says that players shouldn’be disappointed by just looking at that screenshot: the way the game calculates time doesn’t take into account all the cutscenes of the game. At the same time the game includes in the stats only the fastest completion time for each mission: you may played a single mission for over 10 hours but if you play it again with a shorter completion time, only the shortest time will be included into the calculation.

Inaba san says that this way of calculating the shortest clear time has been originally introduced in Bayonetta as a way to evluate players and their records, not to be used as a way to judge if the game is short or not.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will hit North America and Europe next week: February 19 in North America and February 22 in Europe. The game will be available on Ps3 and Xbox 360.
