The character roster for Playstation All Stars: Battle Royale is quite diverse, with a lot of different characters included in the mix and with some more coming on the next weeks as extra DLC characters. Given how important the Tomb Raider franchise has been for the Playstation brand, it was a little surprising seeing that Lara Croft wasn’t included in the game.

Crystal Dynamics Global Brand Director Karl Stewart has recently answered a question regarding the absence of Lara Croft in the game: it looks like the developers wanted to include the character an even approached Crystal Dynamics about it. However, with the Tomb Raider reboot coming some time later, the new Lara Croft design wasn’t finalized yet at the time of Battle Royale development and Crystal Dynamics didn’t want to use an older Lara design for the brawler. In the end, it was just a matter of timing: had Battle Royale been released some months later, Lara would have been in from the start.

While she’s not in yet, there could be a possibility of her being included in the game as a DLC character: Karl Stewart says that we will have to wait to see what will happen in the future, leaving the door open to the possibility.
