There has been a lot of talk about the next generation consoles from both Sony and Microsoft and as we approach zero hour for their upcoming announcements, details are finally starting to flood out for both consoles. The zero hour for the supposed PS4 could be as early as February 20th when Sony has a big event planned for NYC and has been using a PlayStation-theme to advertise it. According to VGLeaks, there looks to be a new generation of the PlayStation Eye coming with the PS4 and that this device being called the Orbis Dual Camera is going to be bundled in with the console.
So what exactly is the Dual Camera? The next iteration of PlayStation’s webcam that will look to be a competitor for Microsoft’s Kinect devices. It contains a pair of wide-angle HD cameras as well as a four microphone array to process sound. There aren’t more details like if it will do as the Kinect does and support full body tracking, but it should do head and hand tracking, at least. Definitely something to keep your ear to the ground for more details on when we get more details ont he PS4.
