Earlier today Square Enix started a little viral marketing that was “murder” oriented. The marketing started with a twitter account @Murdered, which lead people to a picture and when they tried to navigate one of the pictures file folders, they were redirected to eidosinteractive.com. Square Enix then emailed a picture that combined perfectly with the first one tweeted earlier.

This led them to the website murdered.com, which has the same symbol from the earlier pictures written on asphalt. And if you scroll to the bottom of the picture by the word “legals”, it shows all the consoles the game is coming out for.

This all lead to people emailing Square Enix about the website, which in turn Square Enix responded by confirming a new game called Murdered: Soul Suspect. Square Enix’s only statement about the game was: ”an exciting new game from Square Enix which challenges players to solve possibly the hardest case of all,”.

There were no other hints at when we might see more information about the game or even a release date. The only thing we know for sure about the game is that it will be coming to current generation consoles Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. It is not clear what role Eidos Interactive will be playing in all this; as their most recent game Deus Ex: Human Revolution was a fairly big success but there has never been any indication a sequel is in the works. So it would be pretty interesting if Murdered: Soul Suspect was being developed by Eidos Interactive instead of the next Deus Ex game.
