Originally planned as a launch title for the new Nintendo Wii U, Rayman Legends was delayed a few days before the console’s launch, stating that the game required some tweaking before being ready for release. The game was supposed to be released this month but during Ubisoft investors call, held the other day, the publisher not only delayed the game again but also confirmed that the title is now a multiplatform game, getting released on Ps3 and Xbox 360 as well as Wii U.

This confirmation actually comes after some weeks of rumors, stating that a Rayman Origins 2 was actually coming on Ps3 and Xbox 360: this probably means that the decision was actually taken some time before the actual announcement.

This double delay however has created some unrest among the series’ fans and Ubisoft had to come out openly today, stating the real reason behind the delay: the French publisher has confirmed that development has been going smoothly and the only reason the game has been delayed again is to allow all versions of Rayman Legends to release on the same day.

The game received a playable demo some time ago on the Wii U and it showed incredible promise, especially for the Gamepad’s implementation and multiplayer mode: it will be interesting to see how things will be changed for the other versions of the game.
