Yesterday, CD Projekt Red officially announced Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt they came out and said that it would be the last game in the Witcher series. Studio manager Adam Badowski exact words were: “People may ask if this is really going to be the last Witcher game. Yes, it is”. However, Badowski may have jumped the gun as apparently CD Projekt Red has backtracked on that statement.
There will be more Witcher games after Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt according to CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kicinski. He went on to say that Badowski was misquoted and that what he really meant was that the Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt will be the conclusion of the trilogy; but there will most likely be other games set in the Witcher universe.
In other words, there is a good chance we will get more Witcher games set in the same world but with a different main character. This is to be expected considering CD Projekt Red just announced that the Witcher franchise has moved more than 5 million copies. You don’t just shut down a successful franchise like that, especially when you don’t have any other proven franchises as of yet (here’s hoping that Cyberpunk 2077 lives up to the hype).
