For the first time Deep Silver has opened up about Dead Island sales figures and they are pretty impressive. According to Deep Silver the Dead Island developer, the game has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. The figures provided include both digital and retail sales, which is something of a rarity as most developers don’t divulge digital sales.
Menno van der Bil, international commercial director for Koch Media went on to say that they are very happy with the sales figures and that it gives Deep Silver a lot of confidence moving forward that they are headed in the right direction with their “IP strategy”. Van der Bil also said that they are very hopeful sales figures for Dead Island Riptide will benefit from how well Dead Island sold.
Finally van der Bil mentions that we should expect new IPs from Deep Silver that attempt to innovate the way the Dead Island franchise did. However, Deep Silver or Koch Media would not go into more detail about the other new IPs.
Dead Island Riptide is scheduled for an April 23rd release.
