With the first minutes of the game now available, we can see how God Of War: Ascension will feature more than we thought, at least from a plot point of view. The young Kratos starring in the game is going to be somewhat different from the merciless warrior of the other God Of War games but still the developers at Santa Monica Studios didn’t want to depict him as a way too soft warrior.
Game director Todd Pappy has talked about Kratos’ origins with GameTrailers: the team wanted to show Kratos in a slight different light, showing more of his human side. They didn’t want to go far though and stray too much from the character: unlike many other action adventure games which have choices influencing the game, Ascension is going to be a very linear game. For a character like Kratos, moral choices would have made the character almost unbelievable and choices as a gameplay gimmick would have never worked out.
So rest assured: even though he may still be more human, Kratos is still the raging warrior we all love and his twin blades are still as merciless as ever. God Of War: Ascension will launch this March exclusively on Ps3.
