Prince of Persia fans might have gotten a glimmer of hope when video of a possible Prince of Persia reboot was leaked yesterday. The video was found by a member on NeoGAF who goes by Gitarooman. You can see the video by clicking here.
The video, posted by composer Mark Kilian, showed off concept art and motion capture sessions of a game that had been rumored to be connected to the Prince of Persia series, codenamed ‘Osiris’. The speculation arose about a year ago from a leaked image and screenshots from a trailer that showed off an Egyptian setting. The leaked screenshots from the trailer also seemed to match what was shown on the video posted by Kilian. These hints and speculations contradicted what Ubisoft CEO Yannis Mallat recently stated about the Prince of Persia series being put on “pause”. but one could definitely be left unsure of whether or not ‘Osiris’ still existed.
This rumor was put to rest recently when a Ubisoft representative told Polygon that the footage was “from a Ubisoft project that is no longer moving forward”. This essentially means that ‘Osiris’ is a cancelled project but it seems such a waste to have scrapped this idea completely. I hope that we may see something come out of Ubisoft that retains some of these ideas.
‘Osiris’ definitely looked interesting and considering the success of Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia and Assassin’s Creed franchises, I would’ve loved a similar kind of game. Would you have been interested in playing ‘Osiris’?
