Considering how many Prince Of Persia titles were released in the previous gen, with a whole new trilogy which told a new story starring our beloved unnamed prince, it was almost strange seeing only two games released during this gen, with one of them being tied to the movie released sometime in 2010. While the games were pretty decent none of them managed to do too good on the market.
With the series having been away from the spotlight for quite some time, Ubisoft Monteral CEO Yannis Mallat has confirmed today that the series has been put on “pause” for the time being: mister Mallat assures players that this is something pretty natural for successful series.
Brand management is something tricky, he explained to IGN, and he feels like the series should come back when it has all people’s attention and when the time has some new ideas for a new Prince Of Persia game. The franchise is still one of the most important Ubisoft brands so we can expect some new games when the time will be right.
During August, some screenshots circulated along with some rumors, stating that a new Prince Of Persia was in development: unfortunately, given today’s news, that probably wasn’t the case. Enjoy your rest, our dear Prince Of Persia.
