The first Homefront game might not have set the world on fire, but the follow-up, Homefront 2 has garnered some decent hype when Crytek UK agreed to develop the title. The timely demise of THQ led to a fire sale of their assets and Crytek decided to swoop in and acquire the rights to the franchise, securing the rights to the game that they were developing anyway. Homefront 2 will now be developed by Crytek UK as planned and will be published by Crytek as opposed to the now-defunct THQ.
As for what this means for the title, not much, apparently. Crytek have released a statement in regards to Homefront 2 and their purchase of the Homefront franchise and they promise that it will be business as usual for the game as it was already in their hands. They are looking to take a franchise that they believe could be more and put the Crytek seal of approval on it and bring it to new heights.
