There have been a lot of inflammatory comments made about violent video games since the tragedy in Newtown Connecticut, but this might be a new low. Ralph Nader the former presidential candidate told Politico that he believes we are being exposed to violent media now more than ever. This prompted Nader to say that Obama should protect families from these “electronic child molesters”.

Nader was talking about the need to be tougher on violent games and media when he made the statement. Nader ran against the President in the 2008 election as an independent member of the Green Party.

He did go on to talk about his disappointment with President Obama not going after the people who helped cause the crash on Wall Street and not having raised the minimum wage. So violent video games and media were not his only target, but comparing violent video games to pedophiles might be the lowest a politician has gone to wreck the industries credibility.

I do find it funny that none of these politicians ever mention the real world violence continually shown on CNN or FOX. Not to mention Nader doesn’t mention the movie industry, which has quite a few well funded lobbyists in the pockets of certain politicians. I guess he didn’t want to upset the people who could ruin his political career.
