Despite some troubles early on when the console was released, the Playstation 3 has been going strong ever since its first re-design called Playstation 3 Slim was announced and released: the console was now more reliable, with a bigger hard disk included and some features removed like extra USB ports, card readers and a few other things. Despite the issue of the Ps2 backwards compatibility still missing, things were definitely improved.
A second console’s redesign was unexpected by most: Sony has had the habit of release two versions for its home console but never three. The Ps3 Super Slim didn’t introduce anything really new except for some production improvements which don’t really interest players that much: the biggest addition to the Ps3 line was the 12 Gb model, sold for a lower price, to get new players join the Playstation 3 gaming world.
New versions of the Playstation 3 Super Slim will be available soon: Sony Japan has shown them on its official site: the new Ps3 Super Slim will be available in Azurite Blue and Garnet Red, sold with a 250 GB internal HDD and a dual shock 3 of the same color as the console; the price will be 24.980 yen for both versions.
As of now these new colors have been announced only for Japan and there’s no news for a possible western release. Stay tuned for more.
