Bethesda has filed a new trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a television show based in a post apocalyptic nuclear world. In all likelihood this is referring to a Fallout television show based on Bethesda’s Fallout franchise. This might actually be what all the Fallout rumors were actually about; last week voice actor Erik Todd Dellums mentioned there might be more Fallout coming and this might be what he meant.

However, this trademark does not guarantee that a television show based on the Fallout franchise is actually in the works. Considering Bethesda has never made a television show before, there is still a good chance this may never happen. This could just be a reaction to the popularity of the Walking Dead television show; which now a lot of television networks are in a race to find something similar to the Walking Dead to replicate its success.

A Fallout television series falls directly in that category of could be the next Walking Dead and that is why this is probably a move to protect the franchise name. Bethesda would now have creative control over any television show based on their Fallout or Rage franchises. Therefore, this is likely a smart business decision protecting one of their top franchises from being exploited.

If Bethesda does want to create a Fallout television series, they can now have control and dictate who should be making it and what liberties should and shouldn’t be taken with the material.

So what do you think could the Fallout franchise make for a good television series?
