Aliens: Colonial Marines is an upcoming first person shooter based on the Alien franchise, developed by GearBox software and published by Sega. The game will be heavily influenced by the movie Aliens, the 1986 movie directed by James Cameron, which featured a quite different tone compared to the first Alien movie which had a strong horror atmosphere.
In the game players will control Cristopher Walker as he battles against some mysterious foreign creatures. Gearbox originally thought of making the game a squad focused experience: the idea however was put aside to make the game more accessible and easier to play. Among the gameplay features are the Gauntlet Runs, where players must travel from point to point and Last Stands, where player must defend their positions. The game will also features a lot of weapons, including a flamethrower and an experience points system which will allow players to customize their characters, unlock skills and enhance weapons.
