As announced earlier this month, development studio Spicy Horse Games launched a Kickstarter campaign for Akaneiro: Demon Hunters, the Japanese-themed free-to-play action RPG based on Little Red Riding Hood. American McGee, game designer and CEO of Spicy Horse Games, just made some announcements regarding the campaign.
The Kickstarter campaign for Akaneiro has nearly reached $70,000 toward its $200,000 goal with the deadline at February 2nd, 6:27 PM EST, and is also currently in the #3 spot for Steam’s Project Greenlight, where the community votes on games they want to see be released onto Steam. You can visit the game’s page on Steam and vote for it by clicking here. This week, Steam will announce the next round of games to be selected for Steam release through Greenlight and McGee announced that if Akaneiro is selected, Spicy Horse Games will aim to publish the game on Steam by January 24th. With Akaneiro currently in the #3 spot, it looks like a sure thing that it will be featured in this week’s Steam announcement and even McGee states that he is “pretty much certain [Spicy Horse Games] will be in the announcement”.
Also mentioned in the announcement was that a big update is planned soon for the game servers, fixing various issues that Akaneiro is currently having in its open beta. The open beta for Akaneiro ends on Wednesday, January 16th so you still have time to try it out.
If you want to see Akaneiro available as soon as possible for Steam, you can donate to the campaign through the Kickstarter page for the game.
