Anarchy Reigns has been out for less than a week and it already managed to do somewhat well on the market: the brawler developed by Platinum Games and published by Sega managed to reach a 16th place in the Uk sale charts, quite a nice feat considering the game was hardly promoted and it’s not a big release.
Anarchy Reigns can be considered as a spiritual successor of Madworld in a lot of ways: the game features some characters from the first Platinum Games brawler like Jack Cayman and the Black Baron and, while not being a true sequel, we still control Jack in one of his endeavors. Gameplay wise Anarchy Reigns is quite different from Madworld: the combo system in this game is pretty solid as well as the missions offered and the boss battles. The game also has an extensive multiplayer mode where players may choose their characters from a decently sized roster, each with his own moveset.
Contributing to the game’s success are a couple of factors: the game’s low price and the fact that January is always a slow month, saleswise. Funny that, despite all the success, there still isn’t a Wii exclusive in the top 40. No Vita game as well, but that’s related to the lack of games getting released on the Sony handheld.
