Among the most successful japanese role playing game series released in recent in recent years, the Persona series has been enjoying a high degree of popularity, starting from the third game in the series, originally released on Ps2 and then ported to the Psp. With a new game supposedly in the works and the recently released Persona 4 Golden, the PsVita port of the 2004 Ps2 release, the team developing the game isn’t getting any rest. The series also spawned a fighting game spin off, developed by Arcsys of Gulty Gear and BlazBlue fame, called Persona 4: Arena.
Index Corporation, a parent company of Atlus, has recently trademarked the name P Studio in Japan, with a filing made on October 19, 2012. The filing came together with a logo. Given the P in the name, many speculated that this filing was regarding a studio which will be developing the next Persona games. The latest game developed by team was the puzzle game Catherine release two years ago: the studio has had some involvement in Persona 4 Arena as well since the studio’s logo was present on the box of the North American version of the game as well, a game released back in August and way before the trademark filing.
Atlus hasn’t commented the filing yet: the Studio P is supposedly working on the next Persona game but no detail is available on the matter.
