Hideki Kamiya, Platinum Games designer and director of the original Bayonetta, was recently asked on Twitter about the possibility of a Bayonetta 1 re-release for the Wii U.

In response, Kamiya tweeted the following:

It’s up to Sega or Ninty. RT @Linkyshink: PG should consider a technically proficient eShop release of Bayonetta 1 on Wii U.

It’s interesting that he says it’s entirely up to the publishers at this point, as if to imply that this is in fact already a consideration of his. With Bayonetta 2 coming to Wii U this year, this could boost popularity for the franchise and increase the fan demand, as well as bring the original game to a new audience.

Bayonetta 2 is currently scheduled for a 2013 release, though no specific date has yet been provided. If you can’t wait for more of the sassy, gun-toting witch, she makes an appearance as a playable character in Platinum Games’ latest Xbox 360 and PS3 title, Anarchy Reigns. You can also expect a review of Anarchy Reigns very soon.
