Crash Bandicoot was originally considered as the mascot Sony didn’t have when they entered the console market: the first three games were Playstation exclusives developed by Naughty Dog. Once the team decided to move onto other projects, it was evident how the Crash Bandicoot games weren’t going to be Sony exclusives anymore, with games getting released on other consoles like the first Xbox and Gameboy Advance.

Nintendo World Report has gotten their hands on a Crash Bandicoot game which was being developed for the Nintendo DS. Called Crash Landed, the game was being developed by Renegade Kid, known for their Mutant Mudds platform games, and it was going to see a release in 2008/2009.

By looking at the footage we can see Crash Bandicoot in a full 3D world, traveling in a beach setting: the footage we’re looking at was developed in just two weeks, according to Renegade Kidd and it looks really impressive for the little amount of time invested in it. We don’t really know why the game was canned but that’s probably due to the fact that the character is not so popular anymore. A shame, since the game looked quite promising.
