X-Com: Enemy Unknown is a turn based tactical game developed by Fireaxis Games and published by 2k Games released back in October: the game is the latest entry of the long running X-Com franchise and a remake of the first game of the series called X-Com: Ufo Defense.

The game was incredibly well received thanks to the good gameplay experience offered and overall quality: it’s one of the best strategic games ever released and one of the finest games of the series.

Today, a new batch of DLC was released for the PC version and it’s now available for free on Steam, with the DLC for the console versions to come as each console’s online services gets updates. The new DLC pack adds 16 new options when starting a new game, adding a new challenge to the game: among the new options are the possibility to increase weapon damage, rookies will have randomly generated starting stats, wounds decreasing soldiers’ stats and so on. Some more options will become available after completing the first playthrough on Impossible difficulty.

This new batch of DLC is free for all versions of the console due to a specific decision of the team: these options were supposed to be in the main game but there wasn’t enough time for testing.
