A couple weeks ago Guillermo Del Toro announced that he had found a new publisher for his game InSane. However, those reports may have been unfounded as Del Toro today announced he is still trying to find a publisher for his survival horror trilogy. The good news is he is apparently in talks with a very big publisher; the bad news is the deal is still not official and we still don’t know which publisher.

In Del Toro’s words it is a “very very big” publisher, of which there are only a few: EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Take-Two, and Valve. My money would be on EA or Ubisoft as the other publishers are not really known for picking up titles that need to be publisher; Activision is actually pretty stingy when it comes to publishing titles so I would almost count them out. Valve is interesting, but if they are going to put out a new console this year, they may not be willing to spend money when they don’t need to, because producing consoles is so costly.

However, at this point I don’t know how much confidence I have in the actual game; as reports were that even if the game was still under development at THQ it was at least a couple years away from release.

The game was announced way back in 2010, so InSane has been in development for at least three years and still needed one or two more years of development time. Generally games with that long of development time don’t always turn out for the best, but all it takes is one good publisher to help turn a project around.

Which publisher do you think makes the most sense?
