To understand just how monumental of an accomplishment it is for a game like RuneScape to still be going strong after 12 years on the market it takes a bit of reflection. RuneScape was originally released in January of 2001 and by November of 2001 Microsoft had released the Xbox. We are now in 2013 and RuneScape still exists while we are rounding out the lifespan of the Xbox 360 and will see the release of Microsoft’s next-gen system this year. In a way that is rather incredible and is a testament to both the game and the game’s very loyal fanbase.
Jagex Games Studio hasn’t given up on the game just yet, either, as they look to upgrade the title using HTML 5 and are also looking to introduce some new skills to the game as well. The demand is there, surprisingly enough, so it makes sense for them to continue to support the 12-year old title.
