The GameStick project is one that has popped up this week and already made a bit of a wave as yet another project centered around using the Android platform as the base of a console. Their Kickstarter goal was a rather modest — at least compared to other projects — $100,000 USD. Kickstarter gives you a month to meet your goal, and in the case of the GameStick, they only needed 30 hours to reach their goal. In fact, with 27 days left to go in the Kickstarter campaign they have already doubled their goal and gotten over the $200,000 hurdle.
This should be proof that there are gamers out there looking for more in the way of options and that they are willing to put their money where their mouths are to get this to happen. If you are worried about games being available, they claim that over 300 developers have registered with them with hopes to have games on the GameStick.
