The games industry is known to have had some amazing individuals supporting it throughout the years and recently, one such individual was honored for his outstanding work. Ian Livingstone, Eidos “life president”, has received a CBE in the British New Years Honors list, making him a Commander of the British Empire.
Having been given an OBE back in the 2006 New Years Honors list, some of you may be wondering who Ian Livingstone exactly is. He is probably most well known for helping set up Eidos Interactive, which is in charge of some major game franchises such as Hitman and Tomb Raider. He is also famous for having co-authored Next Gen Skills Review with Alex Hope, which helped graduates out of school by teaching them skills that would prepare them for the UK’s video games and visual effects industries.
His work with this review has helped reform computer science education greatly in the UK and to this day, he serves at Eidos’ parenting companies. He continues to advocate for and is a big supporter of the games industry, as well.
I’ve personally learned more about Livingstone and I have to say, I can only aspire to do the same kind of work for the games industry. Who do you look up to that serves the games industry?
