Peter Molyneux’s latest game project, Godus, is a spiritual reboot of sorts of one of his original games from many years ago, Populous. Molyneux’s new game studio, 22cans are the forces behind this game, and it is touted as the creator of the genre returning to the world of “god” games to once again show his unique take on them and why he is the best at what he does. Godus had a Kickstarter goal of £450,000 ($750,000 USD) and over the past few days there were a few lingering doubts if the game would receive its full funding and would move forward, but they made a very spirited series of PR pitches and were able to close out their Kickstarter campaign with £460,000.
Godus is promised to be a blend of Dungeon Keeper’s battle-pyschology, Black & White’s living, changing world and the fun factor of Populous. The game is being developed for PC, Mac, iOS, Android as well as Linux and Ouya.
