Believe it or not, the Dead or Alive games are actually quite fun and the basis for the engine is quite solid. I feel like you need to justify talking about the DOA games by talking about the gameplay because most of the attention for those games goes directly to the female characters in the game and how “bouncy” their female parts are. This is the sad reality that we live in where we really get to see, first hand, how gameplay takes a backseat to the idea of horny teenagers drooling over pixelated characters on a screen to sell games. Of course it works, though, as Team Ninja keeps making Dead or Alive games and keeps included the same kinds of content.
In this case, though, the special swimsuit costumes for the female characters were exclusive ‘pre-order content’ that you could only get through purchasing on Amazon or GameStop. It is a tactic that we gamers know all-too-well in our modern age of gaming where retailer-specific pre-order bonuses have become the norm. What’s funny is while they have become normal, so has offering them at a later date for money to everyone else as well. It is both a good thing and a bad thing, because it means that the content is available to everyone, but it also implies that the promise of ‘exclusive content’ is farcical at best and not worth getting excited over. Eventually, gamers will not care, at all, about pre-ordering games from specific retailers knowing that they can get the same content later on anyway.
