Visiting a museum you are bound to discover many forms of beauty captured by the skilled artists of the past.
However, smiling faces is not one of those things. Since posing for portlets took a very, very long time, the models or people who commissioned the painting were usually content to have a serious facial expression, since it was the easiest to hold for long and duplicate at a later date.
That is also the reason why so many paintings and sculptures give us gloomy feelings, until some fun-loving person decided to change that.
Twitter user Olly Gibbs armed himself with the Faceapp and ventured into the serious world of museum art in order to put on some smiles on some faces. And the results are nothing but brilliant.
Other people followed his example and here we have the collection of altered art that we hope will keep on growing.
So step aside “museum snapchat”, and hello “museum faceapp”
