The Mass Effect series are some of the more ambitious games of this generation when it comes to storytelling and delivery, so if you are picking up the Wii U edition of Mass Effect 3 and haven’t played the past few games, you are really missing out on a lot of cool stuff. You’ll be missing out on part of the amazing story and your Commander Shepard will be, well, kind of new into the world. Part of what has made the Mass Effect games so engrossing for fans is carrying over the same character through every game including those major decisions. If you picked up Mass Effect 2 on the PS3 you’ll be no stranger to how it kind of sucks but how BioWare included a motion comic to help you make some of those bigger decisions so your Commander Shepard’s world will at least be a little bit in your control.
For Mass Effect 3 on the Wii U you’ll be once again given this motion comic to make those past decisions. Mass Effect Genesis, the interactive backstory comic will be updated for the Wii U edition of Mass Effect 3 so players will be able to make some of those big decisions and at least partially shape their story going forward. You’ll be able to make those core decisions from the first Mass Effect game as well as Mass Effect 2. If you have played the games before and are just picking up the Wii U edition for the new features, this will be great to allow you to bring over some of your decisions, and if not, I urge you to go to YouTube and look up some of the backstory so you won’t be completely lost.
Mass Effect 3 for the Wii U launches on November 18th in the US for the Wii U.
