Hotline Miami is a game that people are talking about and most of the talk is overwhelmingly positive. Metacritic has it sitting comfortably with an 87 right now, and it looks like the consensus is that this game is violent, gritty and fun, just like we expected. Of course, the only problem with Hotline Miami right now is that it is only available on the PC and if you are someone like me with a Mac, well, you are out of luck for the near future. There is also no doubt that there are a lot of gamers who don’t even consider purchasing a game on their computer and only use consoles, and for those gamers, they might have a chance to play this game at some point in the near future.
According to PocketGamer, who spoke with one of the game’s creator Jonaton Soderstrom, they are in talks with Sony at the moment about bringing the game to Sony’s PlayStation devices at some point in the near future. PocketGamer highlights the Vita, as they are a pocket site, but the fact that they are talking with Sony means that there is obviously room for a PS3 release, especially after a game like Retro City Rampage has been a success. There is, of course, a catch in this equation, though, and that is that nobody involved with the project has a practical way of creating a port of the game.
What that means is that they would need to work with a third party developer to port the game to PlayStation 3 and Vita, which could be a whole different beast altogether. Hopefully we see some movement on this front in the near future, as this is a game that I am truly salivating to play and I’m sure a lot of other gamers are as well.
