Ubisoft has announced one of the first multiplayer modes in ZombiU will be called King of Zombies. According to the game’s story director Gabrielle Shrager, King of Zombies will tie back into the single player story mission St George’s Yard. As for the gameplay of King of Zombies, the mode will be a modified version of capture the flag.

Shrager had this to say about the multiplayer mode:

“You’ve seen the Tower Of London gameplay footage by now, so you know we are going to have to breach the Traitor’s Gate and penetrate the depths of the Bloody Tower to find the Raven Of Dee’s Secret Bunker, But you’ve never heard of St George’s Yard.

“St George’s is our hell within hell. Survivors here are unwilling participants in a twisted game in which they are thrown to the infected. Our multiplayer arenas are a spin-off of this mission in the campaign.”

King of Zombies will see one player use the Wii U Pro Controller to move his or her character towards the flag. The second player will be using the GamePad to spawn zombies around the flag to prevent the other player from claiming the flag. The GamePad user will use the touch screen to spawn the zombies around the flag; the Wii U Pro Controller player will then attempt to shot the zombies in order to get to the flag.

Everything I have seen from ZombiU has got me more and more excited for the game. However, I am not sure it needed multiplayer because the single player aspect of the game seems so strong. I just don’t want a tacked multiplayer that has no real depth behind it. Hopefully Ubisoft can avoid the many pitfalls that many developers encounter when adding multiplayer to a single player based game.

Personally I really can’t wait for the game because it looks like one of the few actual horror games being released over the next year or so. Are you excited that ZombiU has multiplayer built into the game, or will you be buying ZombiU for the single player story aspect only?

ZombiU is scheduled to be released on November 18th exclusively on the Wii U.
