Not content with only tearing up bad guys in three Iron Man movies and fighting alongside other Marvel greats in The Avengers, Robert Downey Jr. has decided to unleash more carnage in a trailer for the most popular game this Christmas, Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Best of all is that Tony Stark-style wit, with the line “guess who brought a jet to a gunfight”.
Unsurprisingly, Activision is going all-out in its latest promotional feature. Titled “Surprise”, the trailer is directed by Guy Ritchie, the gentleman behind classic British gangster flicks Lock, Stock and Snatch.
Mr. Downey isn’t the only famous face either, sharing screen-time with a number of other celebrities. As well as movie stars, its nice to see the inclusion of some online video personalities. YouTube star and renowned weapons expert FPS Russia appears with an arsenal of explosive gadgets. I could not think of a better candidate for the trailer.
Eat your heart out Expendables 2! Right guys? Well, not quite, as pretend-gamer iJustine is also present. The YouTuber who couldn’t figure out how to solve the puzzle at the very beginning of Portal 2 despite creating a walk-through for it (which has now “mysteriously” been removed). Well, at least she didn’t spend 15 minutes looking at her gun saying “um, so, how do I like, use this? Oh my gawd, its so shiny!” and performed her role well enough – I just don’t see how she got herself a role in the first place.
Regardless, its a kick-ass trailer with guns, jets, explosions and style. Oh, and zombies! Speaking of those lovable brain-munchers, did you catch last month’s Zombies Mode campaign trailer?
Overall it was very impressive, and will surely be remembered for years to come.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II will release on 360, PS3 and PC on November 14, and for Wii U on November 18 (US) and November 30 (UK/Australia).
