It looks like one of the three major gaming publishers won’t be available at the next big gaming convention.

Despite usual attendance, Nintendo have announced that they will not be making an appearance at this year’s Gamescom festival.

Silja Gulicher, the press officer for Nintendo Germany, said “Although Gamescom is one of the most important fairs of the year for us, we’ve decided not to take part this year.

“Instead we plan to broaden our post-E3 activities to introduce our retail and media partners to the Wii U and the newest titles for the Nintendo 3DS,” added Gulicher. “On top of that, as part of the pan-European marketing, PR and event activities for later this year we are planning a whole array of events that will offer our fans the opportunity to try out our latest titles. We’ll have more information about that soon.”

Many people were expecting that Gamescom might be one of the first opportunities for European customers to get some hands-on experience with the Wii U console slated for a release later this year. However, because of this news it looks like we’re left out of the loop a little longer.

We’re still hoping on some big news from Nintendo at E3 this year, so fret not.
